"Webinar" is not a word

I just wanted to remind you all of this. There is no such word as "webinar" and anyone who tells you differently is in error. Join with me in resisting this unnecessary and ugly misuse of the English language, won't you?

When you use a calendar online, do you call it a "weblendar"? Do you keep online contact information in a "webdress book"? Maybe you've learned some new skill through a "webtorial"? No? You haven't? That's because these words are unnecessary. Just like "webinar".

Please, let's just call it a "web seminar." Or even just a "seminar." Okay? Please?

UPDATE (7/10/2008): Apparently the folks over at Merriam-Webster disagree with my assessment. They've added "webinar" to the new edition of their "dictionary." Needless to say, Merriam-Webster's "dictionary" is now dead to me.
