LONAW 2001
In this season, the champion Iron Chefs moved back to the USA and settled in North Carolina, where they became the Raleigh Pumas. The Pumas continued their winning ways, however, winning the league championship for the fourth straight year.
One league owner vanished from sight, and the official Sandbox rules said that any "dead" team would be automatically dropped from the league after a suitable amount of time. Didn't happen. Apparently powered by some sort of dark, unholy energies, the undead Minneapolis Marines came to be known as the unMarines. They still managed to win two games.
The 2001 season was also mired in controversy, when a contested trade late in the season led ultimately to the departure of two teams from the league and the reformation of the League of Non-Aligned Worlds into the Interstellar Football Alliance.
